Barely two hours after the announcement of the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari in a London hospital, mourners began arriving at his Jabi Close residence in Kaduna on Sunday evening to pay their respects.

Naijaonpoint reports that the late leader’s residence quickly became a gathering point for friends, political associates, and well-wishers, all united in grief.

Among the early callers was former Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, who confirmed to The Nation that Buhari’s body would be flown back to Nigeria for burial in his hometown, Daura, Katsina State.

Following the news of his death, security presence was immediately intensified around the quiet Jabi Close area. Two military gun trucks were stationed nearby, with heavily armed soldiers restricting vehicular access and patrolling the vicinity.

Residents and onlookers were seen in solemn groups, quietly recalling fond memories of the man who once led the nation both as a military head of state and a civilian president.

Although members of the Buhari family were yet to make a formal appearance, sympathisers lined the street, many with teary eyes and whispered prayers.

Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly by the family in conjunction with the Katsina State Government, with the burial likely to take place in line with Islamic rites within 24 hours of his death.
