Tekashi 6ix9ine is pushing back against the idea that he’s a “deadbeat dad.”
In a new interview with DJ Vlad, the “Gummo” rapper confronted long-running accusations about his parenting, particularly regarding his daughter Saraiyah, whom he shares with Sara Molina.
When Vlad brought up that 6ix9ine doesn’t share 50/50 custody of his children, he pressed further…asking whether Tekashi feels he’s “repeated what [his] dad did” in being absent.
“No, because I’m involved,” 6ix9ine said firmly. “With my daughter, everybody knows I’m involved. My mom literally is involved in everything.”
The rapper went on to draw a distinction between himself and his estranged father, claiming that while his dad had access but “chose to stay away,” he faces restrictions that make it difficult to see his child.
“That’s not the case here,” he said.
“For me to see my daughter, I need to be chaperoned on a couch. You know how easy it is to say, ‘Yo, let’s show you how much of a deadbeat 6ix9ine is.’ Why don’t they bring the baby and leave her there and say, ‘Yo, listen. Here’s your daughter.’ How many times have I requested for my daughter to come here?”
6ix9ine also mentioned that his daughter’s birthday was just days away. “My mom is going to New York because they don’t want to celebrate her birthday here,” he said, hinting that there is still tension with Saraiyah’s mother, who has been keeping a low profile these days.
His relationship with Molina has long been rocky. Back in 2021, she called him a “deadbeat” on Instagram, accusing him of neglecting their daughter financially.
“He spent more on his girlfriend in one year than what he has put away for my daughter,” Molina wrote in a since-deleted post. “My daughter has less than $100,000 in the bank for her. College and everything. … [He] walks around with a [million] in his pocket. … You do the math.”
