Tekashi 6ix9ine is opening up about his 2018 showdown with now-incarcerated rapper Casanova 2X and says that at the time, he was afraid.
In a recent sit-down, rapper 6ix9ine revisited the origins of his feud with Casanova, linking the clash back to a track prosecutors once scrutinized during his racketeering case.
According to 6ix9ine, Casanova’s 2016 single “Don’t Run” mocked a failed robbery attempt tied to a member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. The Brooklyn rapper claimed the release of the track amounted to Casanova “cooperating,” noting that federal prosecutors later tried, unsuccessfully, to introduce the song as evidence against Nine Trey.
During an Adrien Broner fight at the Barclays Center, surveillance footage captured both sides clashing backstage. 6ix9ine recalled that Casanova’s entourage considerably outnumbered his own. The fight escalated when Nine Trey member Fuguan Lovick discharged a single shot. No one was injured. Lovick ultimately pleaded guilty and was sentenced to more than seven years in prison.
6ix9ine described the confrontation to DJ Vlad. “It felt like a setup,” he admitted, recalling his fear when Casanova’s crew ran up on them. “I thought it was over.”
He also revealed that, in the chaos, he initially believed he had been shot. “The whole time I was scared,” he said, adding with a laugh, “Everybody ran … except Casanova.”
