A police operational vehicle has been reported missing from the Force Headquarters in Abuja, raising serious concerns about internal security lapses within Nigeria’s top law enforcement facility.
According to an internal memo dated September 28, 2025, from the Commissioner of Police (DFA, Katsina Command) citing the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), the vehicle, with chassis number JTELU71JX0B027126 and registration number NPF 5594 D, disappeared from the premises during the week.
The incident came to light during a routine inventory check, which revealed that the van, said to be used for rapid response operations, was no longer in its designated location.
Sources disclosed that the vehicle had been parked within a restricted area of the heavily guarded complex before it vanished.
Investigators are currently reviewing surveillance footage and questioning personnel with access to the compound.
The Inspector-General of Police has reportedly ordered a full-scale manhunt, extending beyond Abuja into neighboring states, with tactical formations placed on high alert.
Security experts warn that the missing vehicle could be repurposed for criminal activities if not quickly recovered. As of press time, the police have not issued an official public statement on the incident.
