A video has surfaced online capturing the moment security operatives seized sacks loaded with live bullets in a golf car on Abuja highway.

The video has since stirred tension as concerned Nigerians online demand a swift investigation and public disclosure of those behind the scary act.

While security agencies are yet to issue an official statement as of the time of filing this report, social critic and public affairs analyst, Mahdi Shehu, has raised fresh security concerns, sharing the video via his 𝕏 account (formerly Twitter) showing security operatives intercepting the large stack of live ammunition.

Shehu warns that the discovery points to deeper, coordinated arms movements within the country.

He disclosed that preliminary details indicated that the ammunition was being transported by a driver acting on instructions.

According to him, “The driver was given the toxic killer bullets to transport. Another person is accompanying the said bullets.”

He added that the telephone contact of the supposed receiver had already been obtained by security personnel.

Shehu insisted that the chain of actors behind the intercepted ammunition must be unravelled, from manufacturers to financiers.

“The real owner and the ultimate receiver and utilizer should be easily traceable. It is important to identify the whole roots from the fabricators, to their financiers, distributors and the receivers,” he said.

Expressing worry over the implications of such arms movements, the activist warned that the incident signals a deeper national security challenge.

Naijaonpoint reports that the new discovery comes barely a week after a moving trailer unknowingly dropped a bag filled with live bullets along the Zaria–Sokoto highway, close to the Ahmadu Bello University.

The ammunition pack reportedly slipped off from a vehicle believed to have passed through the route, heavily loaded, while the driver remained oblivious to the fall.

Eyewitnesses whose voices were heard in a video clip shared with Naijaonpoint on Wednesday (today) said the bag was spotted on the highway tapering near the university’s perimeter, where students and travellers often connect buses heading north.

“Asalama Ailaikum people. It was in a certain car that drove through this route. The driver didn’t know that the bullet bag had fallen,” one voice in the clip stated.

Another voice suggested the vehicle was loaded beyond capacity.

“The car was filled with loads,” the voice said.

Amid tension, concerned residents cautioned passers-by to avoid tampering with the ammunition, drawing links to the expanding threat of terrorism, banditry, and mass kidnapping.
