A female police officer attached to the Ogidi Division in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State has been found dead barely 24 hours after she was abducted by unidentified assailants.
Naijaonpoint reports that the deceased, identified as a Woman Inspector (W/INSPR) who served as a prosecutor in the division, was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday. Her remains were discovered on Friday morning in a bush, a police source confirmed to SaharaReporters.
A disturbing video showing the officer’s body lying motionless in the bush has since circulated online, heightening tension in the area.
Details about her abduction and killing remain sketchy as of press time. Police authorities are yet to issue an official statement, but security sources say the incident has left residents of Ogidi on edge.
The killing comes amid a spike in violent attacks in Ogidi. On September 11, 2025, gunmen suspected to be cultists opened fire during a burial ceremony at Ezi Village, killing four people and injuring about 15 others.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers stormed the venue on motorcycles while the bereaved family was conducting burial rites. They fired indiscriminately, causing mourners to flee in panic before escaping the scene.
