Three officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) were killed on Thursday night when terrorists attacked a checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa community, Bagudu local government area of Kebbi State.
The attackers are suspected to be members of the Lakurawa armed group.
They reportedly set a patrol vehicle ablaze and destroyed the temporary structure at the checkpoint during the assault.
The incident became public after a security analyst, Bakatsine, posted a video on X on Friday showing the aftermath of the attack.
His words: “Yesterday night, gunmen suspected to be Lakurawa attacked the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) checkpoint in Bakin Ruwa community, Bagudu LGA of Kebbi State.
“They killed 3 NIS officers, set a vehicle ablaze and destroyed the shelter area during the attack.”
He also questioned what measures communities and authorities could adopt to improve safety in the area.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
