Terrorists Kill Two, Abduct APC Chairman, 13 Others In Katsina State

Suspected terrorists launched a brutal attack in Dan Auta village, Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State, early Friday morning, resulting in the deaths of two individuals, including a security operative from the state-owned Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).

The incident occurred around 2 a.m. and also saw the abduction of 13 people, including women and children.

Among those taken captive was the Chairman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the area, identified simply as Alhaji Imamu.

In addition to the fatalities, reports indicate that several others sustained injuries, with some currently receiving treatment at the local primary healthcare center.

According to Guardian, eyewitnesses revealed that the assailants arrived in large numbers, riding motorcycles and armed with automatic rifles.

They encountered resistance from members of the KSCWC and local vigilante groups; however, the overwhelming size of the attackers ultimately subdued the defenders.

The KSCWC operative lost his life while courageously attempting to protect the community during the onslaught, while the second victim was reportedly shot after resisting abduction.

This latest incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by the Katsina State, which, along with over a dozen other regions, has been plagued by frequent attacks from terrorists, kidnappers, and cattle rustlers.

The affected communities are often situated near vast forest areas that stretch across Katsina and into six other states in the northwest, serving as hideouts for these criminal elements.
