Teyana Taylor is speaking out about her recent divorce drama from former NBA star Iman Shumpert during an appearance on The Breakfast Club, revealing why she was ordered to pay $70,000 in legal fees to her ex-husband’s attorneys.
Taylor was found in contempt of court earlier this year after violating a gag order that barred her from publicly discussing the split. The penalty stemmed from a March Instagram Live, where she denied rumors that she was draining Shumpert’s finances and shared her side of the story.
“I hopped on Live because y’all know how quiet I am,” Taylor explained. “Even when the other party be deada– wrong, I’m still defending, protecting, all of the things because we have a daughter on social.”
Despite the steep price tag, Taylor said she had no regrets. “It was the best lil coin I ever spent,” she told co-host Jess Hilarious, adding that her livestream “woke n—as up.”
The former G.O.O.D. Music artist finalized her divorce from Shumpert in 2023. Since then, she’s moved on, going Instagram official in June with British actor Aaron Pierre.
