The FCC brought forth the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP). This is a program that provided affordable internet to households that couldn’t really afford it. However, it appears that the program is coming to an end, and this means that many users are going to be left without internet connectivity. However, T-Mobile has some solutions for people who are kicked out of the ACP.
The ACP would provide heavy discounts for internet plans for lower-income houses. However, back in February, the program stopped accepting new enrollments. At that point, the writing was on the wall. In fact, it is possible that it could run out of money within just a few months. This means that people who are currently benefiting from this program will need to find alternative ways of getting internet access or face higher internet bills.
However, T-Mobile has some alternatives for people kicked out of the ACP
If you use T-Mobile home internet, and you benefit from the ACP, you are paying a very affordable price. However, with the ACP going away, T-Mobile has given some options to people who don’t want to risk losing internet access.
Firstly, you should be able to keep your current discount via the ACP through June. After that, you will have a $15 discount on your plan through August of this year. At that point, the well will run dry. However, T-Mobile is offering a plan that’s pretty affordable. It costs $35 for the first month, and $30/month afterward if you use autopay.
Next, there’s a plan that will give you hotspot data to use. This one is limited, so you may not want to use it for online gaming or serious video streaming. This is a prepaid data plan, and it starts at $10/month for 2GB of data. That’s minuscule for most people, but there are options for more data at higher, yet reasonable prices.
Lastly, there’s the Connect by T-Mobile plan. This is a phone plan that can cost as low as $15/month. With it, you get unlimited talk, unlimited text, and 5GB of data. Other smartphone carriers also have plans for people affected by the program shutting down.
