Former Vice Presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Datti Baba-Ahmed, has criticised the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, suggesting that there are many unspoken truths about him.

Naijaonpoint reports that in an interview on ARISE Television on Thursday, Baba-Ahmed, while responding to the insinuation that Shettima’s VP slot is not assured in 2027, said President Bola Tinubu has demonstrated his commitment by keeping him in this position for so long.

Baba-Ahmed made a series of pointed remarks about Shettima, stating that he should not have been allowed to remain in office as Vice President for this long.

The LP chieftain, who refrained from going into specifics, emphasised that anyone who knows what Shettima did and does will not even allow him to stay for long.

He said, “I don’t blame Tinubu, because whoever knows what Shettima did and does will not even allow him to last this long. The airwaves cannot carry it. I’m telling you, the airwaves cannot carry it. And I know I’m speaking on TV. So Tinubu has tried keeping him this long. So, even the consideration that he be dropped, I think Tinubu has tried for keeping him this long.”

Speaking on the current administration, Baba-Ahmed claimed Tinubu came into power through manipulation and illegitimacy, describing the President not as a thriving leader but as a product of a rigged system.

He described the 2023 election outcome as a product of manipulation and secrecy, stating that what Nigerians see as a stable presidency is a façade.

He added, “You see a flourishing, powerful president. I see a rigged leader.”
