The Senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ireti Kingibe, has claimed that the Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike, does not treat the residents of the Capital with respect.
She insisted that the minister does not understand the people’s needs and is not meeting them.
Kingibe stated this during an appearance on Channels Television’s Political Paradigm.
According to her, the people of the nation’s capital will deal with Wike in the coming local government (LG) election in Abuja.
“The truth is that the people of the FCT resent Wike,” she said. “They are not happy with his attitude and his failure to meet their needs.”
She said the forthcoming local council elections would serve as a referendum on the minister’s performance in the territory.
“The people will show him who owns the FCT during the council polls,” she added.
The lawmaker stated that she helps out in areas she can because she understands the needs of the people of Abuja.
According to her, “Most of Abuja is pitch black, I go there and put light, youths will come give me awards and commend me for looking out for them, it is not as if he (Wike) cannot do it. But he does not know what they need. Communities write to me that there is insecurity in their area. A few lights will make a difference. I put light there. But how many can I put? Where I can put one, the minister can put a thousand.”
