‘The Question Is Not Age, Is Competence’  – Senator Kalu Speaks On Presidential Ambition

Orji Kalu shed tears

Former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu, has stated that he could be president of Nigeria at any age.

Naijaonpoint reports that the Abia North Senator, during an interview on ‘Politics Today’, a programme on Channels Television, said being president is not by age but by competence.

Kalu further cited the United States President, Donald Trump, as an example.

He said, “I’m 65 years old now. US President Donald Trump is 79. If I’m healthy and God gives me life, I could still be president of Nigeria.

“The question is not age. The question is competency. What is in my brain that I need to deliver. It’s not when or where. It’s rather how ready I am.”

Meanwhile, Kalu recently dismissed speculation that he purchased his multimillion-dollar mansion in Potomac, Maryland, USA, during his time in office as Governor.

Recently, a video of Kalu taking a man on a property tour made the rounds on social media.

The man taking the tour mentioned that the former governor also has houses in Texas, North Carolina, and the United Kingdom.

He stated that the House in Potomac faces the popular River Potomac and is a prime property with other wealthy people residing in the area.

After the video went viral, some Nigerians accused the former Senate Chief Whip of purchasing the house with money he embezzled while in office.

Reacting to the allegation, Kalu stated in a video he released today, September 10, that the mansion had been purchased before he became governor of Abia state.
