The Resident Evil 2 remake is coming to iPhones in December

Capcom is readying its next game for Apple iPhone and iPad devices with the coming of the Resident Evil 2 remake. This will be the fourth Resident Evil game available on iOS devices and one of only a handful of AAA games that you can play on mobile that aren’t actually mobile games or ports. When Apple initially announced it would be bringing PC games to its iOS devices, people assumed these were going to be mobile ports. Stripped-down versions of their PC and console counterparts.

That wasn’t the case though. These were to be full-fledged copies of the game that were simply brought to mobile without any sort of degradation. They would play just like the PC and console versions, with full controller support and outstanding visuals. Alongside the Resident Evil titles, Apple iPhone and iPad owners can also play Assassin’s Creed Mirage.

Resident Evil 2 will land on Apple devices on December 10

There’s less than a month before Apple device owners can dig into Resident Evil 2, with Capcom confirming that the game will arrive on December 10. There isn’t a cost mentioned, but Capcom says it’ll be just like the other titles. The game will be free to download and you can play through a free trial version (a demo) to check it out. if you want to continue playing, then you can buy the full game.

Although Capcom hasn’t confirmed a price tag, Resident Evil 7 – Biohazard, Resident Evil Village, and Resident Evil 4 all have prices that range from $19.99 to $59.99. So players should expect the price to be somewhere in between those amounts.

The game will be compatible with iPhone 15 Pro and above

In terms of compatibility, you’ll be able to play this game if you have any of the more current iPhone or iPad devices. Capcom says it’s compatible with iPhone 15 Pro, all iPhone 16 models, and all iPads and Macs with at least an M1 chip inside.

That’s a pretty sizeable range of devices, though a far cry from what is probably the majority. As most users likely still own phones from the 14 series and prior. The good news is that if you own multiple devices that support the game, it features cross-progression. This means you can start playing on your phone while you’re out, then pick up where you left off from your Mac or iPad once you get home. On top of that, purchasing the game is a universal purchase. So you won’t need to buy it on each supported Apple device.

You can pre-register for Resident Evil 2 on the App Store starting today. In addition to announcing Resident Evil 2 for iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Capcom has also announced a new Monster Hunter game for Android and iOS.
