Glen Powell is in a fight for his life in an exclusive poster for The Running Man. The upcoming film serves as the second major adaptation of the 1982 novel penned by Stephen King, under his Richard Bachman pseudonym, in which working-class figure Ben Richards enters the titular game show in a dystopian future, where he must go on the run for 30 days while being hunted down with the opportunity to win $1 billion at the end.
Alongside Powell, who is taking over the role of Richards from Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 1987 film, the ensemble Running Man cast includes Michael Cera, Colman Domingo, Josh Brolin and William H. Macy, among many others. The movie also serves as Edgar Wright’s first narrative project in four years since the psychological horror-thriller Last Night in Soho, while also reuniting him with screenwriter Michael Bacall 15 years after their prior collaboration on Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Beyond aiming to offer a more faithful translation of its source material than Schwarzenegger’s film, The Running Man‘s release also looks to continue King’s winning streak for the year. After beginning with the critical and commercial success of Oz Perkins’ The Monkey, the author’s works have become some of the biggest hits over the past couple of months, namely the massively acclaimed adaptation of The Long Walk, something that spent nearly 40 years in development.
Even on TV, 2025 has been big for King, with MGM+’s The Institute garnering major streaming numbers for the platform and securing a season 2 renewal shortly thereafter. The newly premiered IT: Welcome to Derry has also already gotten the prequel series off to a good start with strong reviews from critics and audiences, with Andy Muschietti aiming to deliver at least three seasons.
Looking to The Running Man, though, the 4DX poster proves an exciting reminder of how well suited the film is for the unique theatrical format. Offering a special augmented experience with practical effects and motion seats, Powell’s movie is an action-packed ride full of explosive chases, unique settings and fast-motion direction from Wright, the King remake looks to be one of the best experiences for the unique theatrical format since Powell’s Twisters sequel.
