“Their time is up” – Hakeem Baba-Ahmed asks Obi, Kwankwaso, Tinubu, Atiku to quit 2027 race

Former Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu in the Office of the Vice President, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has called for a sweeping generational shift ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Baba-Ahmed urged key political figures including Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Atiku Abubakar, and President Tinubu to step aside.

In an interview with Trust TV, Baba-Ahmed declared that Nigeria’s current crop of political heavyweights has “played itself out” and lacks the energy, patriotism, or vision to steer the country forward.

“Peter Obi, Kwankwaso should also step aside for the younger generation, alongside President Tinubu and Atiku. This particular generation has really nothing to offer this country,” he said.

He said Nigeria needs “a new lease of life” and fresh leadership unburdened by decades of political baggage.

The former spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) slammed the widespread belief that every president deserves two terms, calling it “nonsense” and “crude politics.”

He revealed that in 2018, NEF, Afenifere, Ohanaeze and others warned against Buhari’s re-election, saying they were proven right.

He dismissed the idea of rotational power as a political poison that keeps Nigeria “permanently declining.”

“Even if you can’t perform, what if you have health or age issues—must you remain president for eight years just because you’re from one part of the country?” he queried.
