Arise Television anchor, Rufai Oseni, has dared the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to implement President Bola Tinubu’s directive by withdrawing police escorts attached to the president’s son, Seyi Tinubu.

Oseni issued the challenge during the Morning Show on Arise TV, in response to a viral video in which Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, raised alarm over the size of Seyi’s security entourage.

Reacting to Soyinka’s account of encountering what he described as a “battalion” of heavily armed security personnel accompanying Seyi Tinubu at a hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos, Rufai said the incident exposes a double standard in the enforcement of Tinubu’s order to pull police off VIP duties.

“Them nor born anybody well to remove police protection from Seyi Tinubu,” Rufai said emphatically during the live broadcast.

Co-anchor Dr Reuben Abati, surprised by the remark, asked, “Even the IGP, the Inspector General of Police?” to which Rufai responded, “Them no born am well.”

In the widely circulated video, Soyinka recounted how he initially thought a movie was being shot at the hotel due to the sheer number of armed men present.

Soyinka said, “There was nearly a whole battalion occupying the ground of the hotel in Ikoyi.

“When I asked who the young man was, and I was told, I couldn’t believe it. Apparently, this is how he goes around, with his battalion.”
