The Labour Party’s (LP) National Youth Wing has raised an alarm over an alleged plan to invade the party’s national secretariat in Abuja under the guise of a one-million-man march scheduled for July 30, 2025.

The youths made the claim in a statement by the party’s National Youth Leader, Prince Kennedy Ahanotu.

They lamented that the planned action was a direct threat to national security, an invitation to anarchy, and an affront to the legal and constitutional order of the party and the country.

According to Ahanotu, the planned protest is being orchestrated by “disgruntled elements” who have consistently used violence as a political tool, in defiance of democratic principles.

“The attention of the Labour Party youths has been drawn to an illegal plan of invading our National Headquarters in Abuja in the guise of an illegal one million man march. The Labour Party has disclaimed and disassociated itself from such rascality”, he stated.

He urged the Nigerian Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS), and other security agencies to intervene immediately to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the Federal Capital Territory.

“Given that these threats have occurred severally without much resistance from the teeming youths of our party, these dissidents may feel it is their right to promulgate violence at any time they so wish”, Ahanotu noted.

He warned that the restraint shown by Labour Party youths in the face of previous provocations should not be mistaken for weakness.

“We can no longer tolerate this height of distraction coming from those who want to illegally hijack our party structures for selfish reasons.

“Labour Party is an institution governed by law with internal mechanisms for conflict resolution, not incessant violent protests”, he added.

Ahanotu cautioned the alleged planners to stay away from the party secretariat on the said date, warning that any attempt to forcefully take over the premises would be resisted, potentially resulting in a serious breach of peace.

He reaffirmed that the current leadership of the party emerged through a legitimate convention held in Anambra State on March 27, 2024, and that any aggrieved member must seek redress through the courts, not through street protests
