Google has already pushed the stable Android 15 update to all eligible Pixel devices. Android brands now need to catch up by providing their own update schedules. Vivo surprised the industry by starting the rollout to some flagship devices before Google. Samsung and Sony have not shared Android 15 update schedules, but a report revealed which of their devices are eligible.

AU by KDDI, a popular Japanese mobile carrier, has revealed which Samsung and Sony devices will get Android 15. Samsung’s list is not complete, as the company plans to update many other models as well. However, in Samsung’s case, the carrier indicates which models will receive the update first. Previously we knew the list of Motorola phones that will get the OTA.

Japanese carrier shares list of Sony and Samsung phones that will get the Android 15 update

Samsung has the best update policy in the Android industry. Google offers the same support time on its late Pixel flagships (7 years of updates). However, Samsung boasts of offering long-term support even on low-end devices. For example, the South Korean giant recently launched the Galaxy A16 5G with 6 years of guaranteed Android updates.

The list of Samsung devices that will receive Android 15 first includes the Galaxy S21 5G, Galaxy S21+ 5G, Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy A53 5G, Galaxy Z Fold4, Galaxy Z Flip4, Galaxy S23, Galaxy S23, Ultra, Galaxy A54 5G, Galaxy Tab S9 FE+ 5G, Galaxy Z Fold5, Galaxy Z Flip5, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy A55 5G, Galaxy Z Fold6, and Galaxy Z Flip6.

Sony maintains only 3 years of OS updates

Sony, on the other hand, is not among the Android brands with the best software support. The company maintains a policy of only 3 years of big OS updates and 4 years of security patches, even on its expensive flagship phones. Fans of the brand aren’t buying Xperia phones because of their software support, though. It’s the other specs and features that make them go for a Sony phone.

That said, the list of Sony phones eligible to receive the Android 15 update includes the Xperia 1 V, Xperia 10 V, Xperia 5 V, Xperia 1 VI, and Xperia 10 VI.
