The senators—Adamu Aliero (Kebbi Central), a former governor of the state; Yahaya Abdullahi (Kebbi North); and Garba Maidoki (Kebbi South)—announced their defection following a meeting with President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Friday. They were accompanied by the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje. The meeting was also attended by key political figures, including Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmad Aliyu, and the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Senator Atiku Bagudu.
