Three Shot As Gunmen Attack Former Anambra Governor’s Convoy

Former Anambra State Governor, Dr Chris Ngige’s convoy came under heavy attack on the Nkpor–Nnobi Road in Idemili North Local Government Area.

Naijaonpoint reports that the incident was made known by his media aide through a statement shared with reporters.

According to the report, Ngige was not travelling with the convoy when the gunmen opened fire.

The attackers, dressed in police and military uniforms, shot a policeman in the pilot vehicle and took his gun and uniform.

A woman who was recording the scene was killed during the shooting.

A shop owner who rushed out to see what was happening was also hit by bullets.

He lost much blood and is set for surgery to remove the bullets, but doctors expect him to recover.

The pilot vehicle was heavily damaged by bullets.

No police officer was confirmed dead.

The escort leader who was shot has already undergone surgery and is expected to recover fully. Doctors also said the shop owner was lucky because the bullets did not touch his spine.

The former governor has spoken with his team and promised to support the treatment of everyone injured.

He also extended his sympathy to the family of the woman who lost her life.

The police in Anambra State have not yet issued an official statement on the attack.
