Suspected political thugs disrupted an Arise Television live interview in a hotel in Rivers State on Friday night.
In a post on its X page, Arise Television disclosed that the attackers allegedly went away with cameras and other broadcast equipment belonging to the station.
NAIJAONPOINT understands that the crew had been recording a live session with Leloonu Nwibubasa, former commissioner for employment generation and empowerment, when the hoodlums invaded the hotel premises.
Nwibubasa was speaking on the political situation in Rivers between Siminalayi Fubara, governor of Rivers State, and Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT).
The former commissioner, who condemned the attack, said it took the intervention of policemen deployed for their rescue to bring them out of the hotel.
Over the past few days, there has been renewed hostility between Fubara and Wike, a former governor of Rivers State.
Recently, the Rivers house of assembly rejected a N100,000 Christmas bonus disbursed to each lawmaker by the state government.
During some of the yuletide events hosted by Wike’s supporters, the FCT minister criticised Fubara while reminding him of the agreement between them.
