A magistrate court in the Nomansland area of Kano has ordered the remand of a young man named Umar Hisham Fagge, who is popularly known on TikTok as Tsulange. He faces charges of public indecency and actions deemed contrary to moral and religious values.
Presided over by Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan, the court ruled that Tsulange be held in custody at a correctional facility until July 3, 2025, while further investigations take place.
Tsulange was arrested by the Kano State Censorship Board after he filmed a comedy skit that depicted him bathing on a public road while wearing a woman’s undergarment. According to a statement from the board’s spokesperson, Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, the viral video was considered offensive to public decency and violated the cultural and Islamic norms upheld in the state.
The Censorship Board described this incident as part of a troubling trend of indecent behavior among social media users in Kano. The statement emphasized that the board would continue to monitor and take legal action against any individuals or content creators promoting what it called “disruptive entertainment under the guise of humor.”
