THE Federal University of Applied Sciences, previously known as Nok University, has a new Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of its Governing Council—Bishop Matthew Kukah, the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese.

The announcement was made today through a statement by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

President Bola Tinubu also appointed key officials for the university, including:

Prof. Qurix Williams Barnabas – Vice Chancellor

Sanusi Gambo Adamu – Registrar

Ibrahim Dalhat – Bursar

Prof. Daniel Abubakar – University Librarian

Additionally, the President approved the appointment of Thomas Etuh (North Central), Chief Fabian Nwaora (South East), Prof. Femi Taiwo (South West), and Zarah Bukar (North East) as members of the university’s Governing Council.

The statement emphasized that the appointees were chosen for their distinguished careers, leadership experience, and commitment to advancing education in Nigeria.

President Tinubu urged them to provide visionary leadership, ensuring the university becomes a center of academic excellence and research in alignment with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

As the university prepares to welcome its first students in September 2025, the President encouraged the new leadership to lay a strong foundation for its development.

The institution, formerly Nok University, was renamed after the federal government took over its assets.
