Tinubu appoints new CEO, commissioners for NERC

Tinubu Signing

PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has nominated Abdullahi Ramat as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

According to a statement from the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, two other nominees were also named: Abubakar Yusuf as Commissioner for Consumer Affairs, and Fouad Olayinka Animashun as Commissioner for Finance and Management Services.

The appointments are however subject to Senate confirmation.

To avoid a leadership gap, President Tinubu directed Ramat to assume office in an acting capacity until his confirmation.

Ramat, 39, is an electrical engineer and administrator with a doctorate in Strategic Management, among other qualifications.

The President urged the appointees to leverage their expertise to steer NERC effectively and align with the administration’s vision for transforming the power sector.
