Tinubu Bows Before Buhari’s Remains At Daura Funeral

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, paid his final respects to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in a solemn moment that captured the nation’s attention.

During the funeral ceremony held in Daura, Katsina State, Buhari’s hometown, Tinubu was seen bowing before the flag-draped remains of his predecessor in a symbolic act of honour and farewell.

Dressed in a traditional blue agbada, Tinubu approached the stretcher bearing Buhari’s body and bowed his head in respect. The former president’s remains were wrapped in the Nigerian flag and placed with military precision as part of the ceremonial rites.

The funeral attracted an outpouring of grief and solidarity from dignitaries across Nigeria and beyond. Among the top attendees were Vice President, Kashim Shettima, Guinea-Bissau President, Umaro Sissoco Embaló, Prime Minister of Niger Republic, Ali Lamine Zeine, Mahamadou Issoufou, and former Nigerian leaders, including Atiku Abubakar, Yemi Osinbajo.

Traditional rulers, members of the National Assembly, and captains of industry, including Aliko Dangote, were also present at the Islamic funeral prayer led by Imam Hassan Yusuf.

President Tinubu, who had earlier received the body at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina, joined thousands of mourners in Daura, where Buhari was laid to rest at his private residence.
