Tinubu Focused On Reducing Economic Hardship – Mohammed Idris

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to easing economic hardships in Nigeria, especially following the removal of fuel subsidies.

Speaking during a live interview on the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) Hausa service program Hannu Da Yawa, on Sunday, Idris highlighted that the fuel subsidy mainly served a privileged few at the expense of the broader public.

Idris emphasized that Tinubu’s administration is actively pursuing economic stability, noting that the President has directed Ministers to reduce government spending by minimizing the use of official vehicles and limiting personnel on assignments.

“President Tinubu is pointing out the need to change from the old ways of doing things in Nigeria,” Idris said, pointing out that these cost-cutting initiatives, while modest, aim to make a substantial impact.

Idris also explained that renaming the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security demonstrates Tinubu’s focus on tackling agricultural issues to enhance food security.

On the security front, Idris assured that the administration is investing in resources for security agencies and improving personnel welfare, while exploring the establishment of state police through ongoing consultations.

Addressing recent power outages in northern Nigeria, Idris described them as unintentional, adding that Tinubu is working on stabilizing the national grid and advancing the AKK Gas Pipeline Project, expected to drive growth in northern industries.

The Minister also urged Nigerians to use social media responsibly, calling on citizens to contribute to a positive image of the country.
