The Federal Ministry of Education has unveiled the Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes Initiative, a nationwide digital learning programme aimed at providing schoolchildren across Nigeria with equitable access to quality education.
The initiative was announced in a statement on Tuesday by the ministry’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Folasade Boriowo, who described it as a groundbreaking programme designed to expand equitable access to quality learning for every Nigerian child, in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the ministry, the programme was developed to tackle persistent challenges in the education sector, including the shortage of qualified teachers and recurrent disruptions to learning.
By streaming live, interactive lessons directly to students, the government said Inspire Live(s): “democratises access to quality education and ensures that no child is left behind regardless of location or circumstance.”
Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, confirmed that full implementation of the programme has commenced.
Alausa noted that the rollout is ongoing and will be expanded to cover all classes from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary School 3.
At present, the Inspire platform hosts online classes for JSS and SSS students, holding Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m., and delivered by certified master teachers using Cisco Webex.
Subjects for JSS include: Basic Science, Mathematics, English Language, ICT, Agricultural Science, Basic Technology, Civic Education, French, Physical Education, Religious Studies, History, and Business Studies.
Subjects for SSS include: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Geography, Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing/Catering Craft, Civic Education, and Automobile Mechanics.
To guarantee nationwide participation, the ministry has instructed all state Commissioners for Education to take specific steps, including appointing State Focal Officers to coordinate Inspire Live(s) activities and disseminating programme details to all public and private school principals.
States were also directed to: “ensure designated schools are equipped with basic ICT facilities and internet connectivity,” as seamless delivery requires minimum digital capability.
Registration, the ministry added, will be conducted strictly by school principals through the official Inspire support channels.
The ministry emphasised that the platform is not restricted to government-owned schools.
The programme “is open to all public and private schools in the country to access,” ensuring that students nationwide benefit from real-time digital learning as Nigeria accelerates its adoption of technology-driven education.
