Former House of Representatives member, Bamidele Faparusi, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for revitalizing the Warri and Port Harcourt refineries, which had been inactive for over four decades.

In a statement issued through his Media Office in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Faparusi described Tinubu as a “jinx breaker” whose leadership has brought practical solutions to Nigeria’s economic challenges.

He noted that the restoration of the refineries underscores the President’s ingenuity and commitment to steering the country out of economic hardship.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain also commended the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, for his integrity and for engaging top experts to restore the refineries to full functionality.

Faparusi highlighted the positive impacts of the refineries’ restoration, citing the gradual reduction in petrol prices as a significant relief for Nigerians grappling with economic difficulties.

Addressing critics who doubted the feasibility of reviving the refineries, he urged them to abandon their skepticism and support the nation’s progress.

The former lawmaker pointed to Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidies, which has allowed states to afford the new ₦70,000 minimum wage, and the push for local government autonomy to strengthen the third tier of government.

He said, “President Tinubu is putting midas touches to every sector of the economy making impossible possible. He started with the removal of fuel subsidy that we have started seeing the gains with the economic buoyancy in states to be able to pay the ₦70,000 minimum wage to workers across board.

“The second year one was the facilitation of the Local Government Autonomy, so that all the 774 local governments can savour financial autonomy to operate and add economic vibrancy to the third tier of government.

“The last one was the functionality of the hitherto moribund refineries that had remained comatose for decades.”

Faparusi emphasized that the refineries’ revival is a testament to Tinubu’s pragmatic leadership, contrasting it with what he described as years of ineffectiveness under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

President Tinubu has brought era of practicability and conviction, instead of deceit offered by the opposition People’s Democratic Party for 16 years when they ran the economy aground.

“I am sure that Nigerians would now be convinced beyond reasonable doubt that with President Tinubu in the saddle, the country is perfectly in safe hands,” he said.

Faparusi concluded by expressing confidence that the government’s efforts to reduce fuel costs and ease economic hardships would yield lasting benefits for the nation.
