WATCH THE VIDEO HERE President Bola Tinubu has appointed managing directors and governing boards for the newly established development commissions representing Nigeria’s north-central, south-west, and south-south regions. In a letter read on the Senate floor by Senate President, Godswill Akpabio on Thursday, Tinubu requested the red chamber’s confirmation of the nominees. NORTH-CENTRAL DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION President Tinubu nominated Cosmas Akyhir from Benue State as chairman of the commission’s board. Tsenyil Yiltsen, a native of Plateau, was appointed as managing director. Board members include: James Uloko (Benue), Atika Ajanah (Kogi), Bilgis Jumoke Sanni (Kwara), Aishatu Ibrahim (Nasarawa), Muhammad Bashar (Niger), Dauda Kigbu (Nasarawa), Zakari Jikantoro (Niger), Sulaiman Ali (Kogi), Bunmi Olusona (Kwara), Umar Mantu (Plateau), Atotse Abraham (Benue), Solomon Adodo (FCT), Abdulkadir Usman (North-West), Habu Maman (North-East), Atinuke Owolabi (South-West), Rachael Nse (South-South), and Boniface Izziogu (South-East). SOUTH-WEST DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION (SWDC) For the South-West, Olubunmi Adetunmbi was named chairman and Charles Akinola was appointed managing director. Other nominees are: Bolaji Ariyo, Joseph Olugbenga, Scholastica Omoworare, Olumuyiwa Olabimtan, Adewinle Martins, Ibrahim Olaifa, Kabiru Lakwaya, Abdul Adamu, Arinola Fagbemi, Ukoha Onyekwere, Howell Ihenacho, Olugbenga Olufehinti, Tele Ogunjobi, Funmilayo Tejuosho, Fatai Ibikunle, and Lateef Ajijola. SOUTH-SOUTH DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION Chibudom Nwuche was nominated as chairman of the South-South commission, with Usoro Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State appointed managing director. Additional board members include: Marcus Eji (Rivers), Aganaba Steven (Bayelsa), Timi Ayibatonye (Delta), Joseph Ugheoke (Edo), Sony Abang (Cross River), Larry Odey (Cross River), Charles Zuofa (Bayelsa), Nkereuwem Ebong (Akwa Ibom), Chika Chinedu (Rivers), Femi Oise (Edo), Charles Enukhowhate (Delta), Tijani Kaura (North-West), Tabitha Sallah (North-East), Yusuf Amao (North-Central), Joseph Mmamal (South-East), and Bukonola Braimoh (South-West). After reading the nominations, Senate President Akpabio referred the appointments to the appropriate committees for screening and confirmation.
