PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has announced the commencement of a comprehensive personnel audit and skills gap analysis across the Federal Civil Service, aimed at strengthening the workforce and ensuring a high-performance culture.
Speaking at the maiden International Civil Service Conference held at Eagles Square in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized that effective national transformation hinges on placing the right people in the right positions.
“To achieve the high-performance culture Nigeria deserves, I have approved a full personnel audit and skills gap analysis in the Federal Civil Service,” he said. “I urge stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of this process so that we can begin implementing critical reforms.”
The President underscored the civil service’s pivotal role in delivering his administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, noting that a motivated and capable workforce is essential to national progress. He also highlighted recent policy measures, including the new minimum wage and pension bond approvals, as evidence of his commitment to civil servants.
Stressing the importance of innovation and data, Tinubu described data as the “new oil” and called for responsible data collection, protection, and usage under the Nigerian Data Protection Act of 2023. He directed all government departments and agencies to ensure data accuracy, security, and accessibility for public value.
“The future of the civil service must be digital, ethical, and globally competitive,” he stated. “Our ability to meet today’s needs and prepare for future challenges depends on our willingness to innovate.”
The President reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to cross-border partnerships and leveraging technology to transform the civil service into a model of efficiency and hope for the nation.
