Deputy Chief Whip of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Ted Elemeforo, has called on President Bola Tinubu and other leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to publicly apologise to former President, Goodluck Jonathan, for implementing a policy they earlier criticised.
Naijaonpoint reports that Elemeforo, in an interview on Arise Television’s Prime Time programme on Wednesday, said Tinubu and other APC leaders who protested against fuel subsidy under Jonathan’s administration owe him and Nigerians an apology for adopting the same policy.
The lawmaker accused the APC of hypocrisy, recalling that the reasons the party gave for voting Jonathan out of office were the same issues it is now guilty of.
He said, “In this country, there is always a double standard. People like Tinubu that protested against oil subsidy need to publicly apologize to President Goodluck Jonathan for implementing what they earlier criticized.”
Elemeforo also declared that he has no confidence in the administration of President Tinubu, stressing that the APC has failed to provide solutions to Nigeria’s problems.
Speaking on the current wave of defection from the party, Elemeforo said his decision to remain with the PDP is based on conviction as the party remains a better alternative for Nigeria.
According to him, the PDP has a greater capacity to reposition the country than the ruling APC.
He said, “I do not believe that the APC is a solution to Nigeria’s problem, and I do not have faith in the Tinubu-led APC government. I believe that the PDP would offer a better alternative to solve the problem of Nigeria.”
