Welcomes Danish billionaire to Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening economic and investment ties with Denmark, assuring Danish investors of a stable, reform-oriented business environment.
The President gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving Danish billionaire Anders Holch Povlsen, Chief Executive Officer of Bestseller and Chairman of the Bestseller Foundation, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Tinubu praised Povlsen for his confidence in Nigeria’s potential, describing him as “already part and parcel of Nigerian thinking and issues.” He highlighted the country’s readiness to embrace partnerships that drive innovation, youth empowerment, sports, and the digital economy.
“We will partner with you, I promise that,” Tinubu said. “The Bestseller Foundation represents goodwill, determination, and resilience. Our reforms have added value to the economy, and I assure you it is easy in, easy out for investors.”
The President expressed optimism that Nigeria, as a leading force in Africa, could achieve shared prosperity through strategic international collaborations. “If we don’t partner with people like you, we will have failed,” he said, adding that Nigeria looks forward to a prosperous and rewarding relationship with Denmark.
In his remarks, Povlsen said his visit to Nigeria was driven by a genuine interest in exploring opportunities and understanding the country’s evolving business landscape. “We admire your country and the talent and creativity we see here,” he said.
Povlsen further revealed that the Bestseller Foundation is already supporting Lagos Fashion Week and investing in Future Africa, while also running a football academy that has produced three players currently in Nigeria’s national team.
Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, lauded Povlsen’s growing engagement with Nigeria, describing his visit as a milestone in advancing partnerships in innovation, sports, and digital infrastructure.
