PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has announced mouth-watering rewards for the Super Falcons following their success at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.
The Nigerian ladies came from 2-0 down to beat hosts Morocco 3-2 in a tense final in Rabat on Saturday night to secure a record-extending 10th WAFCON title, thereby completing ‘Mission X’.
The contingent arrived in Abuja today and met with Tinubu in the Presidential Villa, where he announced the rewards.
The President said each of the 24 players in the Super Falcons squad will receive the naira equivalent of $100,000 as well as a three-bedroom apartment at the Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Abuja.
Each player will also be conferred with the OON (Order of the Officer of the Niger) national award.
The 11 members of the Super Falcons technical crew will also get the naira equivalent of $50,000 each, and other benefits accruing to the Super Falcons team.
Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has also promised the Super Falcons team, including the technical members, the sum of N10 million each.
