President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, and other high-ranking members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) converged on the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday for the 14th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the ruling party.
Naijaonpoint reports that the high-profile gathering signals a pivotal moment for the party, as key leadership changes and strategic deliberations take centre stage.
Among those present at the meeting are the immediate past Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo; Senate President, Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas; Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau; and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.
Also in attendance are members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), several governors elected on the party’s platform, ministers, and other top government functionaries affiliated with the APC.

Tribute for Buhari, swearing-in of new chairman
According to the agenda obtained by Daily Trust, the meeting will feature a tribute session in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. The gathering will also witness the swearing-in and acceptance speech of the party’s newly elected National Chairman.
The identity of the new party leader, widely speculated to be Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, is expected to be formally announced during the meeting following internal consultations among the party’s leadership and stakeholders.
President Tinubu is also scheduled to deliver key remarks during the session, expected to chart the way forward for the party amidst internal restructuring and preparations for future electoral contests.
The NEC meeting comes on the heels of recent developments in the APC’s leadership hierarchy, with the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje and growing calls from stakeholders to reposition the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Party sources say the NEC will also deliberate on strategic reforms and policy directions that align with the administration’s renewed hope agenda.
