Tinubu sleeps by 5 am, deserves credit for reforms – Sunday Dare

In an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Dare emphasised that President Tinubu’s bold moves, including the removal of fuel subsidies and floating the country’s currency, are necessary steps towards fixing Nigeria’s problems.

Dare praised Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as “adept at governance” and a hard worker who “burns the midnight oil.” He highlighted the president’s commitment to his promises, saying, “This is a man I worked with for seven years, and we would often sleep at 4, 5, or 6 in the morning.”

The removal of fuel subsidies, in particular, has been a contentious issue, with prices skyrocketing from N200 per liter to over N1,000 across the country.

However, Dare argued that the subsidy was “draining the country,” benefiting only a select few. He noted that previous presidents had promised to end the subsidy regime but failed to do so.

Dare acknowledged that the reforms may be unpopular but urged Nigerians to give President Tinubu credit for taking the “road less travelled.” He emphasized that Tinubu’s administration is working tirelessly to address the challenges facing the country.
