President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday administered the oath of office to the new Chairman of the National Population Commission (NPC), Aminu Yusuf, alongside two commissioners and five permanent secretaries.

The ceremony, held during the first segment of the Federal Executive Council meeting, was witnessed by the cabinet.

Yusuf’s ascension followed statutory approvals, beginning with confirmation by the Senate of Nigeria on October 22, 2025. The Senate endorsed the chairman from Niger State to lead the National Population Commission.

Also confirmed and sworn in were Joseph Haruna Kigbu from Nasarawa State and Tonga Betara Bularafa from Yobe State as commissioners of the NPC.

The President also administered the oath to five newly appointed permanent secretaries, Abdulkarim Ibrahim, Dr John Ezeamama, Dr Abdul-Sule Garba, Dr Isiaku Mohammed and Dr Ukaire Chigbowu.

In October, the Council of State meeting approved Yusuf’s appointment as NPC Chairman.

He now takes over from Nasir Isa Kwara, who was appointed in 2020 under the then-President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

In other news, Tinubu has approved the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem as the new Chairman of the Military Pensions Board.

Naijaonpoint reports that the appointment was announced on Tuesday through a statement issued by the Board’s Public Relations Officer, Squadron Leader Aliyu Mohammed.

According to the statement, Abdulraheem’s resumption represents a significant boost to the Board’s effort to modernise and sanitise pension administration for retired officers and their families.

“The Military Pensions Board wishes to formally announce the appointment of Air Vice Marshal Mikail Abdulraheem as the new Chairman. His assumption of office marks a significant step in the Board’s drive toward enhanced efficiency, transparency, and improved service delivery for military retirees and their families,” the statement read.
