The Presidency has reacted to the widespread killings and kidnappings recorded recently in Kebbi, Kwara and other parts of the country, saying President Bola Tinubu’s administration is not oblivious to the gravity of the situation.
Speaking on Monday during an interview on Arise TV, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, stressed that the government recognises the severity of the nation’s deteriorating security landscape.
According to him, the Federal Government is not dismissing Nigerians’ concerns.
He stated, “This government has never denied that Nigerians are being killed. We know we have problems, but we are making efforts to ensure that we stem all these things.”
Onanuga also revealed that President Tinubu is expected to speak directly to Nigerians after the ongoing high-level security consultations are concluded.
“I think he will do so very soon,” he stated, assuring that the presidency is working to restore public confidence and strengthen security interventions across affected regions.
The Presidency’s reaction comes amid nationwide anxiety following the recent abductions of schoolchildren in Kebbi and Niger States and the deadly attack on church worshippers in Kwara.
Meanwhile, thirty-eight members of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) Oke-Isegun Eruku in Ekiti local government area of Kwara state, who were recently abducted, regained freedom on Sunday, after five days in captivity.
The state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, announced this in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaiye.
