PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu will travel to Accra, Ghana, today, to participate in the inauguration of President-elect John Mahama on January 7, 2025.

He will be accompanied by the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and other senior officials.

In a statement released yesterday by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, it was confirmed that Tinubu’s trip is at the invitation of Mahama, who had visited the Nigerian leader in December.

Mahama, who was Ghana’s 12th president from 2011 to 2017, was reelected in December 2024 and will take over from President Nana Akuffo-Addo, who served from 2017 to 2025.

Onanuga noted, “Tinubu and Mahama share a long-standing personal relationship, reflecting the enduring bilateral ties between Nigeria and Ghana.”

As the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, Tinubu will join other African leaders at the inauguration ceremony.
