Benue Attack 1

President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday arrived at the Nigeria Air Force Base Airport in Makurdi at exactly 12:58 p.m. on a condolence visit to Benue State following last Friday’s deadly attack on Yelewata community in Guma Local Government Area, which claimed over 200 lives in a suspected armed herdsmen assault.

He was received at the airport by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, and the host Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia.

Also present to welcome the President were the Senate Minority Leader, Senator Abba Moro, other federal lawmakers from Benue, governors from the North Central region, federal ministers, and top government officials.

After the airport reception, President Tinubu proceeded to the Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, where he met and sympathised with survivors of the attack. He then moved to the Benue State Government House to participate in a stakeholders’ town hall meeting aimed at finding a lasting solution to the persistent armed herdsmen incursions in the state.
