The All Progressives Congress has said President Bola Tinubu demonstrated uncommon courage and resolve in steering Nigeria through difficult but necessary reforms in 2025.
The party stated this on Wednesday in its end-of-year assessment of the state of the nation, signed by the Lagos State APC Publicity Secretary, Seye Oladejo.
According to the APC, 2025 marked a decisive turning point for the country, one that required bold leadership and hard choices.
The party said Tinubu chose to confront decades of economic mismanagement and governance failures that previous administrations avoided.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu chose the difficult path of dismantling decades of economic deceit, fiscal indiscipline and governance cowardice,” the party said.
The ruling party said the reforms introduced by the administration were deep and structural, targeting entrenched privileges and rent-seeking networks that had thrived on Nigeria’s challenges.
It expressed regret that some political actors exploited the hardship associated with the reforms and deliberately portrayed Nigeria as a failed state for political advantage.
The party described the resistance to the reforms as unpatriotic and self-serving.
“Predictably, resistance followed, but this resistance was not patriotic dissent; it was calculated sabotage.
“A section of the political class chose to weaponise hardship, amplify fear and market Nigeria as a failed state,” it said.
According to the APC, the challenges Nigeria faced in 2025 went beyond economic and security issues and amounted to a test of national loyalty.
“What Nigeria faced in 2025 was not merely an economic challenge, but a crisis of patriotism,” it said.
It added that opposition politics had become invested in national decline.
“Never in recent history has opposition politics been so openly invested in national collapse.
The APC noted that early signs of recovery were already emerging across key sectors of the economy.
It cited progress in infrastructure development, efforts to block fiscal leakages and intensified security operations nationwide, adding that investor confidence was beginning to show signs of recovery.
“The economy began to reorder itself, fiscal leakages were blocked, and investor confidence showed early signs of recovery.
“Critical infrastructure projects advanced, while security interventions intensified across the country,” the party said.
The party said these gains were possible because the leadership refused to bow to pressure and disinformation, stressing that Nigeria could not be rebuilt by those who desired its failure.
It urged Nigerians to embrace reform, sacrifice and discipline in the interest of nation-building, expressing confidence that the country would emerge stronger.
“Nigeria will emerge stronger because patriotism, though tested, will defeat perfidy,” it said.
