Tinubu’s reforms will reset Nigeria – Gov Sani

Speaking at a one-day lecture organized by the Arewa Think Tank today, the governor acknowledged that while the implementation of the President’s bold reforms has caused challenges and temporary hardships for Nigerians, these difficulties will not last.

He urged citizens to exercise patience and perseverance, assuring them that the benefits of the reforms will soon materialize.

“In fact, we are already making progress,” he said. “The economy is rapidly improving, and Nigerians will soon feel the positive impact of these reforms. At this critical time, what the President needs is the unwavering support of the people.”

Governor Sani highlighted the Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as a visionary policy framework aimed at transforming Nigeria into a global investment hub.

The agenda, anchored on democracy, development, and diaspora engagement, is being pursued with determination and patriotism.

He emphasized the importance of prioritizing agriculture in Nigeria’s transformation, recalling its role as the backbone of the economy at independence.

“Agriculture was the mainstay of our economy, driving infrastructure development and human capital growth in the regions.

“Unfortunately, we abandoned it due to the discovery of oil, and we are paying the price for that neglect. To address poverty, unemployment, and insecurity, we must return to agriculture and invest heavily in it,” he said.

Governor Sani commended President Tinubu’s unprecedented focus on agriculture, noting significant investments in mechanization and support for smallholder farmers. He also commended the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development, which he believes will position Nigeria as Africa’s leading livestock producer.

At the state level, Governor Sani outlined his administration’s commitment to rural transformation, particularly in Kaduna State.

He highlighted the state’s achievements as Nigeria’s largest maize producer and a global leader in ginger production.

However, he noted the need to unlock the potential of the state’s rich arable land through irrigation farming and mechanization.

In the 2024 farming season, his administration distributed 500 trucks of fertilizer, with 240,000 bags provided free to 120,000 smallholder farmers. Thousands of beneficiaries also received farm inputs under the Tallafin Noma (A Koma Noma) scheme.

“By removing financial barriers to agricultural inputs, we have empowered our farmers to cultivate with confidence and ensured higher productivity and income for our state,” he said.
