Tolu Arokodare has been touted as a potential replacement for Mateo Retegui who recently left Atalanta…
Italian Serie A club Atalanta have chosen Fulham star Rodrigo Muniz over Tolu Arokodare as a potential replacement for Mateo Retegui, who just left the club this summer, Soccernet.ng reports.
Atalanta completed the sale of Italian striker Retegui to Saudi Arabian club Al Qadisiah two weeks ago. As such, they need to sign a replacement this summer.
Recall that according to an earlier report by Soccernet.ng, Atalanta had a shortlist of three players, including Lecce striker Krstovic Nikola, Fulham star Muniz, and Genk’s Arokodare.
Now the club have made a decision, and it is not Arokodare. According to transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, La Dea have decided to sign Muniz from Fulham.
The 24-year-old striker joined Fulham from Flamengo in 2021, and he has contributed 26 goals and three assists in 97 appearances.
Last season, he contributed eight goals and one assist in 31 Premier League games for the Cottagers.

Although Arokodare scored more goals than him last season, the Brazilian has more experience playing in one of the top five leagues.
Muniz is valued at €20 million on Transfermarkt, albeit Fulham might demand a bit more for his services.
However, even though Atalanta have not made Arokodare a priority, something could still change, depending on Fulham’s willingness to sell Muniz. But even though that does not happen, Arokodare has also been linked to Manchester.
Manchester United Target Tolu Arokodare
Manchester United need to sign a striker this summer due to the failures of Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund.
They have been linked with many names this summer, including Tolu Arokodare. However, they are yet to put in a bid.

Genk appear willing to sell Arokodare, as they already have a new striker in Aaron Bibout. But it appears that a suitable offer has arrived yet.
In the meantime, Arokodare has been playing for Genk. He will hope to get his big move this summer.
