Tom Cruise reportedly turned down an invitation from the president to be among the 2025 Kennedy Center honorees.

According to The Washington Post, the Top Gun: Maverick actor cited “scheduling conflicts” for bowing out.

Instead, Trump revealed the latest lineup of Kennedy Center Honors recipients on Wednesday, including glam-rock legends Kiss, Broadway favorite Michael Crawford, country king George Strait, disco icon Gloria Gaynor, and, representing film, none other than Sylvester Stallone.

Trump also announced he’ll be hosting the ceremony himself. He even joked about finally scoring the award he always wanted: “I was never able to get one … I said, ‘The hell with it, I’ll become chairman and I’ll give myself an honor.’ Next year, we’ll honor Trump, OK?”

The move comes after Trump, who took over as chairman of the Kennedy Center, also floated a proposal backed by House Republicans to rename its opera house after First Lady Melania Trump.

Trump also recently appointed himself as chairman of a special task force for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

This year’s Kennedy Center Honors are set for Dec. 7 and will air on CBS.
