Tony Buzbee, the Houston-based attorney representing the woman suing Shannon Sharpe for $50 million, has denied Sharpe’s claims that he was planning to release a clip of sex tape with Sharpe and the alleged victim.

Jane Doe is accusing Sharpe of rape and coercion during their two-year relationship. Doe says she was 19 years old and that she first met Sharpe at the gym. He would have been 54 years old at the time.

The suit includes claims for sexual battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, and unlawful restraint, and more.

In a statement released to the public, Sharpe urged Buzbee to release the full tape and not just an edited clip.

Buzbee alleges he has refused to watch it despite numerous chances to do so.

“The only reason the public knows this video exists is because Mr. Sharpe brought it up on Instagram,” Buzbee said in a statement. “At no point have we ever threatened to release it, and we will not. It is evidence, nothing more, nothing less.”

Sharpe’s attorney also revealed that the sports commentator tried to settle with Doe for $10 million.

“While Shannon was willing to pay her a substantial amount of money to avoid the intimate details of his personal life from being exposed, as many high-profile individuals often do when they are being threatened, that is no longer the case,” attorney Mitchell Schuster said.
