A delegation of the United States governmet in set to visit Nigeria as part of collaborative efforts between the two governments in the fight against terrorism and protecting Christian communities.
Naijaonpoint reports that the Under Secretary of State, Allison Hooker, will travel to Abuja, Nigeria and will serve as the head of delegation for the U.S.-Nigeria Joint Working Group.
The visit is a leg of Hooker’s four-nation visit to Nigeria, Oman, Bahrain, and Rome.
According to a press release dated January 21, 2026, the planned visit will support the efforts of the administration of President Donald Trump to protect Christian communities, counter terrorism, and expand U.S. investment opportunities.

It reads: “Under Secretary of State Allison Hooker will travel to Abuja, Nigeria; Muscat, Oman; Manama, Bahrain; and Rome, Italy from January 21-29.
“In Nigeria, the Under Secretary will serve as the head of delegation for the U.S.-Nigeria Joint Working Group and will support the administration’s efforts to protect Christian communities, counter terrorism, and expand U.S. investment opportunities.
“In Oman and Bahrain, the Under Secretary will lead two separate strategic dialogues and advance cooperation across a range of security, economic, and cultural interests.
“In Italy, the Under Secretary will engage with counterparts on the administration’s global priorities such as the Russia-Ukraine war, Venezuela, and peace in the Middle East.
“She will also meet with UN agencies in Rome, including the World Food Program and the Food and Agriculture Organization, to discuss accountability and oversight for U.S.-funded assistance, as well as creating new agricultural trade opportunities for American farmers.”
