Former Watford striker Troy Deeney has stressed Victor Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray, following their 1-0 loss to Belgian club Royale Union SG on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reports.
Osimhen sustained a minor hamstring injury while on duty for Nigeria during the last international break, which has kept him out of action in Galatasaray’s last two games.
He missed their Super Lig fixture against Gençlerbirliği on Saturday and was also ruled out of their UEFA Champions League game against Royale Union SG at Rams Park on Tuesday.
Osimhen’s absence was keenly felt against the Belgian club, as Galatasaray lacked a cutting edge in the final third.
Mauro Icardi, who started, failed to make his presence felt in the box. They eventually lost to a lone goal from Promise David.
The loss clearly showed Galatasaray’s reliance on Osimhen, as they have won all the games he has played in the Champions League. Conversely, they have lost the two games he has missed.

Troy Deeney’s Thoughts On Victor Osimhen’s Importance To Galatasaray
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney, who scored 47 goals in the Premier League, recognizes Osimhen’s importance to Galatasaray. He insists that the club must get him back as soon as possible.
“Victor Osimhen, you just can underplay his importance to the team. Yes they’ve got Lemina and other players that add other elements, but Osimhen is one of the top five strikers in world football,” Deeney said on CBS Sports Golazo.
“If you don’t have someone like that, you can’t just pull anybody from the bench. Without Osimhen they’ve lost a big part, they need to get him back as soon as possible.”

Victor Osimhen currently sits at the summit of the UEFA Champions League goalscorers’ chart, with six goals in three games. Of course, he is also the highest goalscorer at Galatasaray this season.

As such, they will be hoping to get him back as soon as possible. The Super Eagles star will be re-evaluated this Friday to ascertain his availability for Galatasaray’s Super Lig derby against Fenerbahce.
The Cimbom’s next Champions League game is a fixture against Monaco at the Stade Louis II, and Osimhen will surely be back before then.
