Former Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari, has finally been buried at his hometown in Daura, Katsina State.
Naijaonpoint reports that the immediate-past President was laid to rest on Tuesday after a funeral prayer (Jana’iza) was held for him in Daura.
Family members and relatives prayed and paid their last respects to former President Muhammadu Buhari before his burial.
Naijaonpoint reports that Buhari’s body was respectfully laid to rest at 5:50 pm, today.
Buhari’s funeral was attended by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu; his wife, Remi Tinubu; Vice President Kashim Shettima; immediate-past Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and many other dignitaries.
Recall that Buhari had died on Sunday in London after a long battle with an undisclosed illness.
The Federal Government of Nigeria has stated that only the United States of America has communicated reasons behind its recent visa issuance policies.
The Nigerian government made this known in a statement to Naijaonpoint on Tuesday, signed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Onanuga expressed Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to maintaining and strengthening the longstanding and cordial diplomatic relations with the Governments of the United States of America and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Presidency, the recent changes in visa issuance policies affecting Nigerian citizens by these two countries have been brought to the attention of the Federal Government.
He stated that relevant Nigerian Ministries, Departments and Agencies are actively engaging to ensure that the concerns raised are addressed through appropriate and constructive channels.
Special Adviser to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, has slammed President Bola Tinubu’s aide, Bayo Onanuga, for dragging the late former President Muhammadu Buhari into a propaganda war.
Naijaonpoint reports that this comes after an 𝕏 user shared a video of a massive crowd at Buhari’s campaign rally in Ibadan, suggesting the late former president had widespread support beyond the North.
Onanuga responded to ... and wrote, “A video to rejig the memory of those who claimed only Buhari’s 12 million votes gave him the presidency in 2015 and 2019.”
The remark drew criticism from several netizens who accused Onanuga of downplaying the role of northern votes in Muhammadu Buhari’s 2015 and 2019 presidential victories.
Others also asserted that it was disrespectful and poorly timed, especially as the country continues to mourn the passing of the former president, who died on Sunday in London after a prolonged illness.
The nephew of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, Mamman Daura, has revealed that the Nigerian leader was in high spirits just hours before his death on Sunday in London.
Speaking in an interview with ThisDay, Daura recounted his last moments with Buhari at the London Clinic, where the 82-year-old had been receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Naijaonpoint reports that Daura said he spent Saturday evening with the late President, who appeared full of life and hopeful about returning to Nigeria within the week.
“We were together on Saturday, talking and laughing, and Buhari was in high spirits in the London Clinic where he was admitted,” Daura recalled.
He disclosed that Buhari had made plans for his return, including giving instructions regarding hotel bills for members of his entourage in London.
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that the Senator representing the territory, Ireti Kingibe, is blinded by the spirit of her impending defeat.
Naijaonpoint reports that the Minister was reacting to a statement made by the lawmaker on Monday during a television program, in which she said that President Bola Tinubu’s biggest mistake was appointing Wike as Minister of the FCT.
In a statement on Tuesday, through his Special Assistant on Public Communication and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike said the Senator cannot see the positive transformation taking place in Abuja and the FCT satellite towns.
Olayinka said, “It is funny that someone who is impersonating by using the name of Ambassador Baba Gana Kingibe, who is no longer her husband, believes that jumping from one television station to the other to disparage the FCT Minister will revive her dead political career.”
The opposition coalition has warned former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against leaving the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
The coalition warned that leaving the ADC might mark the end of Obi’s political trajectory.
Naijaonpoint reports that the warning comes on the heels of the revelation on Monday by the Director-General of the Obidient Movement, Yunusa Tanko, that Peter Obi will contest the 2027 presidential election, with or without the coalition ticket of the ADC.
He also urged the ADC coalition to zone its presidential ticket to the south, rather than the north.
However, in a swift response, Comrade Abayomi Bello of the ADC Youth Vanguard stated that if Tanko’s submission truly represents Obi’s position, the former Anambra State Governor may be looking at the end of his political trajectory if he walks away from the coalition due to losing the party’s 2027 presidential ticket.
The Edo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged people of the state to ensure that President Bola Tinubu is removed from power in the 2027 election.
