WATCH THE VIDEO HERE Tory Lanez’s legal team is asking California Governor Gavin Newsom to pardon him or commute his sentence after the rapper was stabbed 14 times in prison earlier this week. Lanez, real name is Daystar Peterson, is currently serving a 10-year sentence after he was convicted on three firearm charges over the 2020 shooting of fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion. He was reportedly stabbed by 42-year-old Santino Casio, who is already serving a life sentence for second-degree murder. Attorney Walter Roberts pointed the finger at Megan’s former best friend, Kelsey Harris. “[Harris] fired at [Megan] three times. Mr. Peterson grabbed her arm and knocked it down, and the gun fired two more times. In essence, Mr. Peterson never shot anybody. Never even touched them. He never fired the gun. This statement aligns with the statement of the only non-party witness to the case, Mr. Sean Kelly, who at trial testified he saw two women fighting,” said Roberts. “There were three potential suspects in the car that night. And yet the only DNA sample was taken of Mr. Peterson, even though unknown DNA was found on the gun.”
During the press conference, it was reiterated that Lanez’s DNA was not found on the weapon. Journalist Gionno Caldwell also weighed in, again focusing on Harris. “She wasn’t accused of anything by Megan. Pete or the police. And to my knowledge, she wasn’t under any investigation. So why plead the fifth? What also shocked me is the prosecution gave her immunity for what? What did she do? Is there an allegation of her doing something? I’m not aware of that. Maybe some of you can answer that question today during a time of trial,” he said. Alex Spiro spoke directly to Gov. Newsom at the end of the conference. “Sir, it is in your hand to do something about this. You have the power and the means to examine the evidence that has been presented, even to the courts. This is a travesty of justice.”
