Tory Lanez’s team is firing back at TMZ after the outlet aired a bombshell interview with the inmate who brutally stabbed the rapper behind bars.
Diana London, a spokesperson for Lanez, tore into TMZ for broadcasting a phone call with Santino Casio, the inmate who reportedly stabbed the Canadian artist 14 times on May 13 at the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi.
Casio, a convicted murderer serving a life sentence, claimed in the interview that he acted in self-defense after allegedly catching wind that Lanez had placed a bounty on his head.
“TMZ, of all people, give this disgusting, vile human being a platform to spew those lies when this man (Tory), at that point, [was] in a bed in the hospital fighting for his life,” London said in response to the interview. “And we have to defend, instead of talking about the well-being of this man who’s innocent already and who is a victim of many people in the system who railroaded this guy.”
Casio said he and Lanez were actually cool before tensions allegedly boiled over. According to him, things took a dark turn when the rapper supposedly flashed a weapon and issued a threat, which Casio claims forced his hand in what turned into a violent stabbing.
“Why in the hell would Tory want to kill someone when he literally could be pardoned or get out of prison?” she continued. “He has everything to lose at this point.”
Lanez is serving a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in both feet back in 2020.
